Anonymous: What are the anime series that get your highest recommendation? Like if someone had never, ever seen any anime ever, what are the ten series (and maybe films?) that you would recommend?

Ah! This is a toughie. This probably won’t be very accurate to how I really feel because I’m thinking on the spot. Not in any particular order:

1. Evangelion

2. Kare Kano

3. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

4. Sailor Moon (at least some of it)

5. Puella Magi Madoka Magica

6. AIR

7. Toradora

8. Yu Yu Hakusho

9. Hanasaku Iroha

10. Guilty Crown

I tried to include some variety… like some of the shows that got me into anime when I was young and some current favorites, and others are ones I just remember thinking really stood out. I think out of all of these the one I most highly recommend is Kare Kano, and the manga of it too. It’s always been one of my favorites. These are mostly slice of life/shoujo because that’s mostly what I watch hehe. I don’t know if Guilty Crown will end well but I think it’s really promising and it kind of involves a lot of genres so a lot of people could enjoy it.
